I will have had my '99 coupe for five weeks this coming Sunday. Of all the Corvettes I've passed, so far only ONE person has waved. Was a great feeling getting that first wave. Haven't seen any older 'vettes (probably due to the time of year), pretty much just C5s and C6s. I look at the upcoming car - the drivers are all pretty clueless - either talking on their cell phones, trying to look important, etc. I have a feeling that in my particular area, most of the late model Corvette owners are the mid-life crises types and not real Corvette people. I'll keep looking.

Funny you mention this. A couple weeks ago it dawned on me the wavers have slacked off. C6ers are just stuck up when it comes to C5's. In a couple months I've gotten one wave and that was a fellow Torch Red. Blame it on the economy since everything else is.
I actually get the wave prob 90% of the time out here! the C-6 folks just forgot where they came from I agree, they seem to think they are "better" than us most times
We used to talk about this all the time on the ZR-1 forum, and it has always been my belief that the newer the car is, the less likely a wave is. And conversely, we concluded it was that the older the car was, the more involved people are in Corvette lore.
Lately, I have gotten several waves, last Sunday I was 6 for 6-4 C-5 and 2 C-4.
Its so true that C6 owners have a stick up their butts about waving alot of the time....But, like mentioned earlier, C5 owners "ignore" C4s alot of times. I really love Vettes and still like C4s, i just like the C5 better, so thats what i have. I wave at all vettes! C3s and C4s always seem to acknowledge C5s around here!

Eh there sonny. I wanted a vette since I was 15. It took me until age 52 to get one though.
BTW I'm not in the habit of waving but if I happen to be eating at the same restaurant as another Corvette owner I'll usually introduce myself.
I love to wave sometimes its a big goofy one if I know the other driver. Maybe Im just a proud owner after dumpin all my deployment money on getting my vette.
I wish. Just got my first Corvette at age 48 and have wanted one since I saw my first Stingray around 1969 ....... think a band called The Beatles were still around then.

Yep, virtually everyone waves except for the C6 guys around my area. I think in the past year I tried 30 times, and got a single response. The worst were the C6Z guys, and one even gave me the bird after I gave him the wave. Couldn't believe it, nor could I believe that guy had a C6Z.
So, this year I will only wave IF a C6 guys waves at me first. Everyone else is good in my book!
i wave at ALL vette's when i see 'em. I get alot of waves back though I actually had a white C5 hold up traffic so i could pull out in front of him comin' outta Best Buy cool guy with his wife. I was with the g/f also pulled up along a yellow C5 on the interstate and he waved a bunch. Maybe it's because there aren't many Vette's around here is why they wave.
I WAVE at all Corvettes.
Sometimes when the wife and I were out cruising in the 60 or 65 we would wave at but get no response from the newer C-5/C-6 Vettes.
But we would get waves from guys in Mustangs, Camaros and other Classics or Sports cars.
We seem to get more response when we are out in her C-5 convt. from other Vettes except the C-6 owners/Leasers.
I believe the dealers should inform new Corvette owner about the wave.
If you sell someone your Corvette, tell them about the wave.
Don't let it bother you to much if you don't get a response, sooner or later these new owners will catch on.
