[Z06] How to solve grinding issues

Yea,,,, People misunderstand what stops are and the proper way to adjust them. There are only TWO stops in most shifters. One stop for gears 1, 3, & 5 and a stop for gears 2, 4 and 6.

To properly set the stops, back them off so that they dont have any effect on shifting. Then place the shift handle in 3rd gear and screw in the stop so that it just makes contact with the shift lever. You can move it in and out a fraction of an inch to (out) soften the feel of the stop, or (IN) to enhance the feel of the stop when you hammer the handle into the gear.
Then do the same procedure for gears 2,4 and 6.

Once you have it the way you like it, add a drop of locktite to the threads and carefully lock down the lock nut making sure that you dont change the position of the stop bolt. Simple as that!

Like others have stated, I really like the mechanical SNICK SNICK feel of shifting and I know when I feel that SNICK feel,,,, I AM IN GEAR!

Stops help keep the stress off the internal shift components.
