Default VaraRam or Vortex

I currently have the Blackwing intake on my '03 Z06. I'm thinking about changing to the VaraRam or Vortex (leaning more towards the VaraRam... a friend of mine has the vortex and likes it). Any recommendations? And would either have any noticeable difference on performance? Any installation issues? Any issues with car running too lean?

Thanks for any input.

I'd say keep whatcha got and spend the cash on something else. I had a Halltech and switched to the Vararam. I prob wouldn't do that again if I had to do it over.

Neither. Best quality intake = Callaway Honker. I had a Vortex on another car and it was a good unit, too. My complaint was servicing the filter required getting it off from under the car and re-installing was easier with another person guiding you from the top.

I love the Honker, no complaints at all. Easy to install and service. OEM quality. Makes excellent power, too.

If I keep what I've got, can I get some extra boost out from a programmer (such as the hypertech)? A friend of mine told me that I really couldn't do a whole lot of reprogramming on a manual since the driver controls the gear shifting (don't know if that's true or not since there are other factors that could be reprogrammed). A guy he knew got a whole lot of power boost from a Dodge Ram truck just by reprogramming the computer (and boy does that big truck move from the line). I don't want to do any serious engine mods (i.e. turbos or superchargers, even though a friend I know who owns Inline Performance, primarily works on Japanese cars, said he could put in a supercharger for about $3500 which is his cost with free installation). Just looking to get a little more boost without major engine mods.

Vararam hands down. Never any issues. 10.89 @ 125.06 mph with only bolt-ons. Daily Driver.
