2000 C5 Vette everything on it is stock, and a awesome car.. but the speakers in the front are rattleing like crazy and I just saw this on the store part of this site.
"The early BOSE system in the 97-00 Corvette has a front 8" woofer that tends to literally come apart after a couple of years of hard use. GM released a TSB covering the warranty repair under "Bose Speaker Cone Separation". Most Corvette owners never had the repair made and many times dealers "couldn't find the bulletin". Today, if you go to a dealer for this problem (rattling in the door, poor sound, etc.) all he can offer is a complete front enclosure. List price $382 or more!!! "
Can I find this online and print it off so if I go into the dealer he can't say he lost the bulletin??
I believe once the vehicle is out of warranty you are out of luck getting the manufacturer to fix it free irregardless whether you have the bulletin or not.
If it was a safety recall they would be obligated to make the repair.
Okay, Im getting rid of the Head unit soon anyway, and installing a LDC screen, cuz come on.. it just looks slick So what would be a top of the line sound system? I dont really care about the money.. I just want the best lol.. I dont however want alot of stuff cut to fit new stuff, I just want to replace.. although I could add a sub or two behind the heads of the seats.. I hear alpine was good but its the best bang for your buck.. I want the best lol. It sounds stupid to some but I REALLY like my stero..
Any help would help me a lot!!
Thank you!
Just a thought, I have Bose AM5's home speakers and they come with a lifetime warranty. Contact Bose online and tell them what is going on, if they are worth a grain of salt they will do something for you. Tell them you will let us know here at the forum how you make out ! And let us know... Rob
That's the one everyone seems to be referring to. Thanks Dave.
This TSB btw, does NOT refer to or deal with Bose speaker assemblies having/being the problem or source of any "buzzing" or "vibration". It deals with the various bits and pieces of hardware, door lock rods, wiring harnesses, etc as the actual source of some, if not all, of this problem.
I did all the things in this TSB several years ago and it is not difficult, just a little time consuming. I wasn't having any particular problems at the time, but I wanted to "upgrade" my door hardware, etc and this was a fairly inexpensive and easy thing to do. The TSB lists all the things you need.
BTW, I am still running my factory Bose door speaker assemblies and my car now has 154K+ miles on it. The speakers are fine.

I think the replacement of the BOSE emblems used to be in a separate TSB. I know a lot of members reported buzzing from these things quite a while ago now.
I will deff talk to Bose on that life time war. but Either tonight aftr I get off work.. or Monday because they might close on weekends. I'll let you guys know 8)
I also held down the Bose thing on my speakers, and I could hear the rattleing coming from in the speaker..
I ment I don't want to cut a lot of stuff for the speakers. I know I alrdy got to cut the stereo holder for the new head unit, I really want a LCD, no ***** or anything, I just like the way it looks
What about speakers/Amp setup? Good sound, and can go pretty loud (If not very loud.), and last a long time.

IIRC, I think you're right. That's such an easy fix and doesn't require replacing the Bose emblem. Hot glue gun or a small amount of epoxy on the backside and you're done. Those things are plastic and the two pins sticking out are very easy to break if you try to straighten them out to remove them.
