Theyre RPO codes...........and Z06 as well as ZR-1 both stand for BAD-A S S
Just like the Camaro Z28. The original Z06 option came out in the 63 model year and was the race car option. From a book about the Z06: With only 199 officially produced, the '63 Z06 is one of the rarer Corvettes. Because the car had no external markings and was powered by a "regular" L84 Fuel Injected 327, it never developed a mystique like the L-88 Vettes. With lots of reliable power on tap, the Z06 enhancements were all in the suspension, brakes, fuel tank, and special rear inner wheel wells for wider tires. A Z06 equipped Sting Ray was a rather unpleasant ride on the street. It was extremely hard riding, noisy inside, and the the brakes had to be HOT in order to function. The sales brochure said, "Off Road," and they meant it.
Although not as successful at racing as the current Z06 the limited quantity will always make the 63 more collectible than the C5 model.
That's a cool link. I guess the "Z" in Z06 stands for Zora Duntof's first name. I noticed they said the LS6 actually has 425 hp not 405. Does anyone know if this is true or not?
From: Wylie TX --> Less is More, except under the hood !
