I was driving normally today and when I went over some speed bumps, the Service Traction Control message and light went on and stayed on. It did not throw a code. I parked it, went and had some lunch, then when I started it back up to go home, the Service Traction Control was no longer on / lit. I drove it home and right before I got home, it went off again. It did not throw any codes. No check engine light. Any recommendations on what I should check? I will definatley check all the ground connections to make sure they are nice and tight. Thanks.
The way the system works is that it senses variations in the readings from the sensors at each wheel and takes inputs from a series of accelerometers. If the bumps in the road caused bad readings or threw the accelerometers briefly it might cause a trip.
The fact there's no code is a good thing. You'd expect one if it was a real problem. Also the system is inhibited for the life of that ignition cycle so its normal that it "rebooted" after you restarted the car.
Carry on and if it doesn't reoccur you can ignore it. If it starts throwing codes post them up and they can be diagnosed. There are a number of components to the system so its important not to jump to conclusions.
