Default Help Me Design My Stereo

Posted originally on the audio side, but wanted those who do not go to tAll,

I need some help designing my new system. The only restriction(s) that I have is price

This is my current circumstance:
2000 Vert
Quiet Car throughout
Crazy Cowboy pre-cut sound deadening
Decided on DNX8100 with an IPOD connection
I listen mostly to jazz, some R&B and 80s rock

I want to upgrade my current aftermarket system but of course cost is the issue. Please make some recommendations on the best products in my price range. I'm prepared to go a little higher in all categories.

Front Speakers $350
Sub Woofer $250
Amps x2 $500 (one for inside speakers/one for sub)

Appreciate your support!!

I know you decided on the 8120, which is what I originally chose, however I decided that having a physical volume **** was very important to me. Just being about the reach up and grab a volume **** to make an adjustment just seemed safer and more convenient. I'm pretty much in the same boat. I have a Vert so I'm looking at replacing the fronts and adding an Amp. I'm not sure what to do about the rears or a sub due to the top being down most of the time. Good Luck with your system.

I got the Kenwood DNX 7100 DD deck because I did not need the bluetooth, alpine 4x100 amp, alpine 1x600 amp, diamond audio speakers, elemental designs 12" in a subthump hidden enclosure. I bought it all on ebay and paid about $1300 for all of it.

Post this in the audio section. You'll probably get better response.

Forget the rears. They're pretty useless in a vert.

First thing is the sub box (a stealth box with a 10" sub). I would recommend a nice 5 channel amp that can handle a component set up from and your two rear speakers and then control your sub with the 5th channel. So your head unit you will want 6 RCA outs. Front, rear and sub.

I assume forgetting about the rears comment was a joke. The previous owner of my Vette upgraded his system with top of the line stuff and his installer never hooked up the rear speakers saying the same thing. After I upgraded those and wired them up the sound stage just came alive in the car.

So what type of speakers would you recommend to replace the stock Bose door and rear speakers in the Verte? I agree, I would like to do something about the rear speakers in my verte, however the stock ones are basically useless. Anyone who has ever set the fade to the rear speakers know how weak they are.

Since I have a verte, my trunk space is prescious, so I don't want to install a floor mounted bass unit. I also have a rear partition to protect the top from items in the trunk when driving top down.

I don't want to out-thump anyone, I just want better sounding music.
