Default Help! Another Column lock Question

My column lock started acting up recently, it was asking me to pull the key for ten seconds first, and then it asked me to service column lock. After a couple of times it finally unlocked and I drove the car straight to the dealership. At the dealership they ran my VIN and told me that the recall work has already been done, and its the solenoid that's broken and they can fix it for $650. I jumped in my car, started it with my fingers crossed that it will not lock out on me and drove it home. Now its locked again and will not unlock- what are my options or is the stealership the only way?

Thanks in advance, I know its a beat up topic and I did do a search before starting this thread. BTW, the is a 2000 FRC obviously with a manual 6 speed (they only came in 6 speed)

Get a CLB and be done with it forever!!! If your solenoid took a dump you are out of luck and be ready to contribute to GM bailout. Before doing that check your battery voltage, not on DIC but with a good meter on the battery. If it reads below 12.7 charge t and it may unlock, but seriously get a CLB.

Buy & install CLB. adaptiveperformance 40.00 shipping inc. I recall seeing instructions specific to having your prob. (column locked) posted fairly recently. You might have luck doing a search if you put your inquiry in "quotes". There has been alot of chat lately about the search being problematic. Using the "quotes" has worked for me. Best of luck !
