Default First Vette

Hey guys im new to forums, and currently looking to buy a vette.

I found this one, http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...083767589.html,
I realize it has a salvaged title, but i talked to the guy and he said it was all cosmetic, frame is fine, and its fixed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Mine was a salvage title and now has a clean title. Not really sure how that works. The first owner wrecked the Vette and put it back to gether and sold it to the guy I bought it from. He then took it to 3 different frame shops and had the frame checked out. Showed me all 3 reciepts. Frame is great. I went and test drove the Vette, it drove straight as an arrow and I havent seen any problems with the car. Id say get it if its a good deal and if you wanna take that chance. Good Luck!

Yeah the only problem is, i live in Redding,CA and the car is in LA so its like 10 hours away so i cant exactly "test drive" it or see it. So im gonna have the guy email pics of shop receipt for assurance that hes telling the truth about the frame.

I wouldn't personally waste my time. There has to been something better, closer. Sure, the price is nice but the milage is high and who knows what has happened with the car.

I would watch for something more local to you. There are lots of great C5s out there. If you haven't, you could look through the C5 For Sale section too.

Best of luck.

You can post that you are looking to buy in that section. Maybe someone will have what you are looking for.

I'd run, not walk away from a salvage title!

Very true. Buts its the price that gets me, with only 86k miles also. And it being fixed. Guy claims if the frame was bent it would have costed it alot more to get fixed so i assume he went to a shop.

How would you end up making this transaction a reality? You need to see and drive the car first and foremost. If it was local that's one thing but it isn't.

The price is too high for a salvage title (my opinion). I would not pay more that $8,000 regardless of how well it drives.

Being from LA - run! Google the guys phone number, he must be one unlucky guy to have a vette and VW Passat with salvage titles trying to sell both on craigslist...he has a Dodge Ram (no pun intended) Van...

2 things wrong with the car, It has been wrecked and the title.
I would rather put a few more bucks and get one that has a clean title and never wrecked.

just cause it has a salvaged title doesn't mean its a bad car. Get a good look at it and have it checked out before making a decision. You just have to be careful when buying salvaged title cars, nothing wrong with buying them if the work was done correctly.
