Default 2002 Convertible

Hello,

We purchased our first Vette this past weekend and quite impressed with the car. However, my wife noticed that the sun visor mirror side (of course) has become unattached at the top or the mirror from the sun visor on both sides. Anyone have any experience with re-attaching vs. replacing both visors?

There is a write up in the Tech Tips but I think that section is currently messed up. It involves small zip ties to reattach, a new visor is about $100 online (MidAmerica and the like).

This is how I did it:

Refix Vanity Mirrors

Pull the mirror away from the housing gently. Stick a piece of 3M double sided tape along the inside edge of the top of the mirror between the two holes in the visor.

Thread a small zip tie through each hole from the back and outside of the hole, with the “head” of the tie located in the large rectangular recess. Pull the tail of the zip tie towards you and thread from inside to out through the hole in the locating pin. Push the tail through the head loosely at first.

Use needle nosed pliers (holding the tail) and a precision screwdriver (pushed against the head) to tighten the zip ties. Be very careful when pulling the ties tight not to pinch the lighting wires which run through the same hole. Once tight, snip the spare tail of the tie but carefully so as not to snip the electrical wires.

Push the mirror back into its housing and press firmly against the double sided tape.

Should be good as new.

Thank you for the warm welcome and extreme detail with the sun visor repair! I will try this over the weekend.

I have also seen visor replacements on Ebay ~$100.00 for both sides and considering that too. Our 02 is a convertible only has 31,000 miles but the visors look a little worn for some reason...

Thanks again!

My pleasure

It took at least 30 mins of head scratching to work it out
