I just bought a 99 Magnetic Red Coupe that was upgraded to the ALCOA painted thin-
spokes but I really don't like the painted wheels on my car. I could have had the orig.
wagon wheels for free but I passed on them as well, so I guess I don't like them.
I've been looking at after-market wheels but I don't want to put heavy, cheap China made
chromed wheels on my car. I like the CCW wheels but not the price, at least right now.
I think I'm just going to go with a chrome exchange on the thin spokes.
Does anyone know the difference in weight between the forged ALCOA painted thin spokes
and the chrome version of same. I'm not interested in the Italian Speedlines.
Bought a black '99 coupe in January. It came with chrome wagon wheels. Being chrome, think they look fine with the black paint - especially when both are polished. I will eventually upgrade to chrome C6 style wheels but am in no hurry.
here i sold my C6 Z chrome Repro's to go back to wagons. Although i'm tinting the car, lowering and it's all blacked out Now the wagons are getting painted black
They looked great on the car when it was new. They will look great on the car again if I put them back on. Yes, I still have my OEM set and I'm not parting with them.
This is same config as my 98, I was thinking about buying some repo C5 zo6 wheels but after seeing this pic- I'm rethinking
I don't know why they look so much better on your vet but within a few weeks I'm going to paint my calipers red and might get the working Zo6 rear brake screens

Whether you like or dislike the wagon wheels is purely a matter of personal taste. I had them on my '99 and I did upgrade to chrome ones - they looked very good on the car.
Everybody and their brother has the chrome thin spokes,I thought the WW were ok which I had on my '99 FRC,but I wanted a change, so I changed them out for the light weight Vette magnesium wheels, which I had totally refurbished.
I had chrome wagon wheels on my 98. I actually liked them better than the thin spokes on the later years. But, after a few years passed they just seemed too big and bulky. So, bought a set of C5 Z06 chrome wheels and have been happy ever since. They look much better . . . to me anyway! Guess I just got tired of the wagon wheel look. But, too each their own!
OKay....I was lucky enough to purchase my coupe with the optional polished thin spokes....but....
I find the "wagon wheels" design fascinating when one considers what the original designers were thinking in regard to style and especially what they were considering in keeping costs down.
I really like the decal visual trickery....and the chrome version to spice things up.....but ...ultimately, it is not what most folks would prefer.
Heck...they are attached to a beautiful car, so maybe wheel design isn't so important!!......hmmm??
But so many make such a big deal about the wheel...hey, that rhymes.
You can't deny that wheel selection is HUGE here, but it has to be tempered with what one can afford AND individual visual taste....
Here's an added effect I didn't anticipate with my wheels when the sun came out!!! We don't get that much here in Oregon! :^)
