Default Wagon Wheel Question...

This is not meant to pizz off anyone but.....Do the guys/gals with them really like them? Or, Are they too tight to buy something nicer?Or are they Purists that own a car that came with them and feel that it isn t right to put newer style wheels on them? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, totally, but Just adding a set of wheels to a C5(that has wagons) Makes it look soooo much more awesome! Mine didn t come with them('01) but if it had, i would have put off all other upgrades till i upgraded wheels. I hope i didn t upset anyone here, that wasn t my purpose at all. I really wonder, tho, when i see pics posted of a Awesomely Clean car with wagons on it. Thanks Guys!- Jason

Nope. no purist here. Wagon Wheels on my 99. Have been wanting to change wheels, but I have a hard time finding something I like that isn't going to cost 5G for a set of wheels. Actually I like the Wagons more than the Y2k wheels. Over time i just got used to them. Its on my list, but not up there. Rather put the funds in go fast mods

Besides, it having wagon wheels makes it look like a sleeper. lol

I ran Wagon Wheels for years on my 1998, kinda liked the "different look". But, I did upgrade to polished thin spokes, they look awesome and show off my slotted/drilled zinc plated rotors. I like the new look better.

I still have wagons on my 99 but have owned it less than a year. I am not particularly a fan & I plan to change wheels real soon. After agonizing over the choices, I finally pulled the trigger on a set only to learn they are backordered w/no ETA. So I cancelled the order as I don't like to be left hanging. Probably an over reaction in hindsight because now I am right back where I started. Still looking.

Tnarg's are pretty sweet I must say.

I thought the Chrome Wagons looked pretty awesome too.

I think they look pretty good especially when they are kept clean. Another plus is that they are lighter in weight than 99% of the aftermarket rims. There are a lot of nice rims to choose from and I will eventually change them but I am not in any hurry. It is not a priority to me and I like the subdued look of the stock rims for now. Maybe when it's time for tires I will consider getting different rims. Besides, many other people think they look nice as well. It's only here that there are so many negative comments about them.

Anyone can buy a brand new set of chrome repros for as low as $549, so I doubt that it has to do with price or a person being tight. I have had polished thin spoke rims before on previously owned C5's and recently sold a set of brand new polished thin spokes I had purchased when I first bought my current C5. I had planned on making the switch but the stock '99 rims really grew on me. I always liked the looks of the C5 Z06 rims when I had my '02 Z06 and I will probably eventually get a set of C5 Z06 rims in chrome for my Black '99. I just worry about the quality of aftermarket chrome rims since I had a set once that I wasn't particularly pleased with.

They're not bad...of course there are nicer wheels out there...but the really nice ones are very expensive example:

When I bought my 98, it had chrome wagon wheels and i really liked the look. About a year ago one of the wagons developed a crack and started leaking air so I purchased aftermarket C6 ZO6 rims from WCC.

I agree, the chrome '97-'99 rims look great especially on Pewter. These were on my wife's FRC....

I waited until time to replace my tires to get rid of the wagons (about a year after I bought the car) - I think the new wheels transfromed the look & I got wheels and tires together for $1200 ... not as good looking as some of the high-end wheels but Way better than the wagons at a reasonable price - here are before/after pics:

I think about changing, but alot of the aftermarket wheels are simply heavier and I rather not buy heavier wheels. I do not like the thin spokes so that is not an option. In chrome that are not too bad...
