I have 4 vehicles:
1999 Corvette FRC
2004 Infiniti G35
2002 Ford F250 7.3L
Olds Alero
ALL of them have full coverage with low deductables and I also have a $180,000 house thats covered with them also and I only pay $1400 every six months!
I never even consider GEICO out of general principals. Many years ago the manufacturer that made laser speed guns was going bankrupt/out of business. Geico came in and bought them out and subsidized their production. They then went so far as to donate part of their production to various police departments. Many of the car magazines started calling them "GEICO GUNS" They spent a lot of time trying to say they were just doing it for public safety,,not trying to fatten their bottom line by raising rates on customers caught speeding! YEAH RIGHT!! Bugged me ever since!!
I have no dog in this fight, but I am still under GMPP and when I called them for a tow - I gave them the name of a tow company I had already pre-screened for C5ability. GMPP just sent the one I recommended.
I think most insurance companies (and AAA) just cut deals with local tow companies (don't actually have their own trucks/equipment). Lots of tow companies will not touch Corvettes (for good reasons) - I would much rather have them admit they are not properly equipped than to try and fail. Your best bet IMO is to scout the local tow companies on your own (if you really want to reduce your chances of damage). Even if I have to pay for a tow out of pocket - that is much cheaper and less stressful than the risk of leaving that up to someone else.
Guess you're in the 3% of those unsatisfied customers they brag about in their 97% customer satisfaction! Sorry for your luck, glad you got AAA to tow your vette. I'm with State Farm and although they are a little bit more expensive, they've always been there for me with any issues.
i've not heard too many bad things about GEICO but Progressive i've heard a BUNCH of horror stories. one was from a good friend of mine. He hit a deer and the adjuster took a week to go out there and look at it. Well him not thinking, washed it so they could see all the small dings caused by it. His '01 Jeep Wrangler was PERFECT before that night. Anyway he had a deductible of $500 and he had a quote from a dealer to fix and it was about $3800 in damages. Well they came out and said it wasn't a deer hit because there wasn't any hairs left on it. Well what do they expect when they wait over a week to come out. They told the shop that there estimate was too high and they offered to cut him a check for $15 yes FIFTEEN dollars. basically they said it would be $515($500 deductible) to replace front fender, drivers door, windsheild(small crack in corner) fender trim, and fix the rear 1/4 panel and edge of hood. All this on a RED vehicle that's paint cost about $150/quart. Needless to say he dropped them shortly after and fixed it outta pocket. I have American Family Insurance and get great service and prices from them. I turn 25 in April and the prices, they said, will drop in half then
I dropped Geico back in the 70's when I had them. Got a rate increase out of the blue for no reason but it was a %300 increase! So I went to the agent suspecting it was just an error since there were no tickets, accidents or anything. They said they simply raised their rates. Said, Ok, and I'm no longer a Geico customer and walked away. Haven't been back and won't come back no matter how many commercials they produce.
Nationwide gave me the best deal - 03Z, 1200/yr full insurance w/ $250 deductables, and I'm 20.
Hope you never have to use them. Wife was in a collision that was the other guy's fault, but nationwide treated it like hers because they "didnt feel like" going after the other insurance company.
It also took almost 2 years to get them to pay the claim.
^^^ that's B.S. too! that is outragous. American family has never taken more then 2 weeks for a check for a claim. Although it's mostly been glass. One accident and i was sideswipped but some 15 year old. They paid out right away and nailed his insurance company for the amount.
I think their rates are outrageously great for me and they haven't raised
rates on me,ever. They also sent out a flat bed when I got stranded at
work . I'm not sure why they aren't consistent with everything, but dropping them doesn't really do them any harm at all unfortunately
My switch from Geico to NJM will be effective April 1. The Vette is less than $750.00 to insure for the year and they give rebate checks if the company does well
I like Geico!!!
I was with fu....ing Allstate for 26 years and when I compared the quotes I got PISSED!!!
I have 3 cars and for example the vette is 620 a year FULL coverage vs......1300 at Allstate.
I estimated that I overpaid by $30,000 over the years.
And,yes,my 16 year old daughter got rear ended 2 months ago-Gaico paid no problem and no premium increase...
I agree!!!
I am 31 and have my vette and expedition fully covered by Geico. I pay around $600 every 6 months. I have had no issues at all. Totaled a car and got picked up by rental company, got my check at the end of the week. And as others have stated, you just cant hardly beat their rates.
