OK

I am looking at getting my first ZO6 it is Electron blue with 48K for miles. I need help with what to look for for damage area she is stock no mods and had 2 owners. I don't know all the problem ares on the Z to look for. This will be my first Vette. I know to look at the battery tray and to make sure no rocker damage and HUD works like it is supposed to. I have used the search feature on the forum and I just cant seem to find all the info so I am coming to the experts with my hat in hand begging for advice. Help all info is welcome please.

i think you should treat it like any other car... make sure it has a clean car fax vehicle history... look the car over, i had them put it on a lift so i could see under the car as well, look for turned bolts that hold on body panels if you really want to, to make sure it has not had panels replaced and not sent to insurance. Drive the car. Make sure it drives nice and straight. Give it full throttle and go through a couple gears.. I went 2nd through 4th (you should have seen the salesman when I let off). Bargain on the price, especially if it's a dealer.. Good luck and have fun!

Cool,

I have ran the car fax and had my insurance company to a check aw well the car comes back 100% clean according to them. I will have them put it up on a lift to make sure nothing is bent of broken. Thanks for the tip never even thought of that

Leaky diff on the left side is a common problem. Mine was done before I bought it. Bent shift forks. Make sure it shifts up and down easily.

Yes, leaky diff, mine was at the dealer with 5,000 miles on it having a bad window reg replaced and they found the leaky diff as well. Check for cracks in the body around the jacking points as well, somebody may have had a jack slip on them in the past and damage the body panels down low.

I would recommend reading this.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...ngths-etc.html

Check the history of the car.

Put it on a lift and look underneath. Look for leaks and damage.
Start it up while on the lift and make sure exhaust does not leak.

Make sure the car has current inspection and all electronics work.

Make sure you take it for a test drive and listen for any unexpected noises and also how the car feels and handles.

These cars have a tendency to have water leaks. I would hose the car down real good to make sure no water is getting in.

Keep your emotions under control. Lots of good cars out there at good prices. Just have to be patient and know what to look for.

Not sure if you have seen this site. Has a lot of good info on it.

http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/

Good luck on your quest!

While you are checking things out, find out what column lock system (or bypass) it has installed. That still gives people fits if not fixed correctly.

take the car to the car wash or spray driver side and passenger side down with a water hose to check the pillars for leaks. when driving at 65 see if the wind noise at the windows is excessive. check both seats for 'rocking seats'. hows the clutch feel?

just be prepared to spend big dollars when it is time for repairs, these cars are not cheap to own, even with the tremendous amount of knowledge and help you get from this forum, its still expensive to own.
