There is an option with the C5 Corvettes, as I'm sure you probably know, where you get a 12 disk CD changer. My car does not have this (03 z06). Does anyone know if it is a complicated process to get this option added to my car? Has anyone done it? If so, what's the cost of parts and time?
Dingo, the Pioneer or Delco 12 disc CD changer #25685332 CDX2016 is what you'd look for. Mfg'er , mfg'er date and serial numbers are all on this tag.
You will also need the adapter harness ( from the passenger's foot well , three (3) connectors, to the rear center recess where the remote changer is located. Cor-Har from PIE makes these . They run $65-$85.http://www.mvpautoparts.com/audio-adapters/
You will also need a verticle mounting plate and CD mounting brackets and at least one (1) CD magazine.
I've done four (4) of these and it takes only a few hours ( mostly to run the wire harness back to the Cd changer and fabricate a vertical mounting plate for the changer).

When I ran the cable - I ran it along the passenger side seat and had to take a shortcut with it for it to reach the changer. Once the cable was behind the seat I had to run it near the middle of the trunk for it to reach. Other than that it went pretty smooth.

If you use the after market Cor-Har adapter harness ( pigtail) mfg'ered by PIE you just follow the path of the factory harness to the rear by removing the interior trim pieces ( which are easy to remove and replace in about an hour).
The PIE harness is a plug and play item that retail for around $85 from PIE , though Corvette stores will usually ask more, but I've seen ( and purchased )the harness for as little $65 . http://www.mvpautoparts.com/audio-adapters/
To go along with this, are the AC Delco and Pioneer cd magazines interchangable? My changer doesnt have a brand name on the front of it so I assume it is the AC Delco, but I have no magazine. Looked for them online and they seem WAYYYY over priced. Anyone have any sites for these or have an extra they would like to get rid of?
hey guys can someone post a picture as to were it is the stock connector, because the installer says i do not have one, i need to see what these connectors look like, thanks i appreciate this.
