i drove our 66 coupe friday and realized that probably most c5 owners don't know what it feels like to drive a 60's vette . the difference between a c1/c2 and a c5 is REMARKABLE . if you get a chance drive one and maybe you'll see why i don't get the ''vette feeling'' driving the c5 . also maybe you won't view me so harshly for my lack of attachment to the c5 [we've had 4 c1/c2's over the years including a new 66 vert but only 1 c5]. . .peace to all ....by the way , for a road trip it would definitely be the c5 .
Ah yes, C-5 owners don't know what they are missing all right, rough ride, poor handling, no seat support, poor or no A/C, and terrible gas milage. But I love my '66 BB anyway!
I have a 1978 Pace Car with 11,660 miles on the clock & a 2002 Coupe. While I love the 78, it is not a very pleasent car to drive compared to the C5.Terrible gas mileage,
I have named my Pace Car "Teddy Roosevelt" because its a rought riding SOB.
No i don't know what I am missing. The C2s are my favorite style Corvette to date!! Hoever I can only imagine the difference, and I highly doubt someone will just let me drive their nostalgic Corvette just for kicks.
I've owned various Corvettes, starting with a 1958, and they are all fun to drive for a short trip on a clear day, but for real cruising it is hard to beat a C5. Maybe a C6.

I have a 1966 coupe mosport green. Love to take to cruise-ins and short trips 2 hours or less. For long drives of several hours I take my 2000 black convertible. World of difference on long trip much more enjoyable and relaxing.
I love driving the C5 and I love driving the '67 BB. Many differences, but one that I laugh at is when I grab the gear shifters, the short throw B&M Ripper versus the T-handle in the '67. WOW! Both make me SMILE BIG!

Everytime I get into my '75 I marvel at the way times have changed.
Just think. Back in "the day", the classic Vette's were the cutting edge. Makes you wonder what's in store for the Corvette in the next 30-40 years. Think we'll view the C5 as rough riding, poor handling, etc.?
I know what it feels like. My dad has two '65's and Ive driven and ridden in them several times. The ride in mine is about as rough as the C2 but I do have power steering and my clutch isnt near as stiff.
