I remember seeing plans / instructions for building race ramps out of 2 x 8s. I've searched the forum but can't find anything. Does anyone have plans they can post or email to me? I'm open to any cost effective solutions in addition to home made. Though I'd love a pair of race ramps, I don't feel like dropping $150+ on a set. Thanks in advance!
They are on here somewhere, but if I remember right you are going to still pay that much or more in buying all of the wood and materials. Main difference is that the typical home made versions are extremely large and heavy. Whereas the store bought ones are light weight and easily storable. I'd say go with Rhino ramps or something similar to that. Next step up would be a 4 post lift. Nowadays you can get them for well under $2,000.

Mike Mercury has his own website, do a google search. And yes, they work great. I made a set, now I use them for the wifes truck, my commuter, and the vette. They are heavy, but I only use them in the garage, so they dont have to move very far.
I jsut took a 2x6 and staggered it, bottome peice is 3ft, next is 2ft, and then a 1ft peice on top. Not pretty, but gets the car high enough to get under and move around!!
Not sure how high you're looking to go though??
I made some ramps before I joined the forum. They are heavy, will hold a semi, and have worked great. I will be getting some rhino ramps and giving my old ones to a buddy with a camaro.

Mines not and scraps a bit going up. However it's easy to adjust the length and angle of approach when you build them. I used his plans as a general idea.
The low profile rhinos work fine for a Z06 rear, you will need a board plus rhino for the front due to long nose. Nice things about rhinos are the very low cost, light weight, and minimal storage footprint providing you keep the cardboard sleeve. If you want to lift both front and rear at same time, a set of rhinos plus the Mike Mercury design would be a good combo, or just get two rhino sets with some short lengths of 2X12"s.
The rhinos will give you 6.5 inches height, you could add 2X12"s below rhino to increase height.
