Default Non Run Flats

Any daily drivers here that have gone to non run-flats? I'm considering but wanted to see what other people's experiences were first. Thanks.

I had Sumitomo HTRZ II's, which were ok. They were great on dry pavement, but not too good in the rain. The newer HTRZ III's seem to have a better tread pattern and look like they would handle rain better.

I went with the General UHP for my new tires. They have a pretty good looking tread pattern and seem to be a great tire. I probably have about 2000 miles on them so far. I would spend more money on a better quality name brand non runflat, but I daily drive my car and the tires wear fast enough as it is. If I didn't drive it all the time it would have better, more expensive tires on it.

Many will tell you that runflats are very loud and that non runflats are much quieter. Just keep in mind that you don't have a spare, and if something happens you will probably be stranded. Keep an eye on your tire pressures in the DIC

Tirerack.com had some of the best prices and very good customer service

I went with pirellis. Very quiet compared to the old goodyear runflats. There are some good runflat tires now that offer the quiet ride, michelins and kuhmos (especially good pricing) come to mind. I think the next set im going back to the run flats for the peace of mind.

I just switch from run flats to the Sumitomo HRTZ II's and do not have any complaints other then they are not very good in the rain. I have a hard time complaining about them when I consider the price of them.

I do drive the Vette as a DD during the driving months where I live and have not really worried about not having run flats. You could always try and find a tire repair kit and compressor to carrier in case of a flat. I guess its just a risk you have to take and be ok with if you switch from the run flats.

On our C6 I run KDWs and like them in both dry and wet weather and they should last along time as they have a 300 wear rating

My C5 does not count as it goes through rear rubber a little quicker, but the Nitto Extremes I have on the front are a nice tire

I have been running the sumitomo 2 for a long time. Great tire and I havent had issues in rain better than run flats in rain. Once you go non run flat you cant go back. No issues no flats in many miles. It all depends on your area your drive your age etc. I have a kit in the back and never worry I do watch the DIC tire pressure all the time

I've been running no-run flats for over 5 years...Just get a good air compressor, some tire plugs, AAA and you'll be just fine.

These tire threads are getting about as bad as the BSM threads.

In over 30 years of driving I could count the flats I've hand on one hand. To further curse myself I will say it's been over 20 years since I've had a flat. I've had stuff stuck in the tires but the air didn't come out. Get a plug kit and compressor and save some money on tires.

I dont use run flats either..saves weight also...improves mpg..small aircompressor that plugs into cig lighter and a plug kit in the trunk..only had one flat and I pulled right into service station..luckily the DIC will let you know the tire is going down. It's a personal preference.

Michelin Pilot Sports ( non-runflats) here and a small flat tire fit-it kit from Tire Rack. Go for it, you'll really like the change!

I think when my original tires wear out, i'm gonna buy the Goodyear
Eagle F1 GS D3's again, and put a mini spare from a GTO in the trunk.
I'm used to not having a trunk, so I won't miss the space. Also I won't have to worry about tire sensors either. The Eagle D3's are really a nice tire...REALLY quiet on the road.

....AND last longer than any other super high performance tire. I've been running the D3s for years and would not go to anything else unless I were jobless.

I just bought the General UHP Exclaim for my z06. These tires look and feel awesome. I have also been told they have great wear and last a long time when compared to others alike.
