Done it a few times - not difficult at all. There are different opinions on whether the force these short shifters require to shift is appropriate or not so you may want to see if someone local can let you feel how their aftermaket shifter works in a C5. Here are links to some of my installs.

Took me about 1/2 hour to install. It does make the shifts firmer and more precise.....but it requires a little more "effort" to shift....

I just installed the Hurst shifter in my Pace Car. Start to finish was about 45 minutes. I used a Torx15, a 10mm socket and a small screwdriver. I also used a needle nose vise grips and a small hammer to remove the daemon key. Easy.....

Patches has great writeups on the install. I followed one of them about four years ago when I installed a Hurst.

Patches!

How does it feel? Well, it definitely takes more effort than stock. When my girlfriend drives I can tell it's not much to her liking.

Good luck!

stock shifter = satan

Aftermarket Shifter = redemption

This is true about pretty much every vehicle....at least that I've driven...

I feel that the change to a short throw shifter is worth the time and money. Have changed the shifter in my 02 Z06 to a C6 Z06 shifter to a MGW shifter. The MGW is stiff at first, but after a little use, you will notice that it does feel just right-firm but not over bearing.

My twist was to just shorten the existing OEM shifter. I cut a little over an inch off and REALLY like the results.

I have a B&M Ripper Shifter in my black car, it's tight with notchy throws, and I love it. The Pace Car is a more relaxed ride, and the Hurst with it's slightly softer feel and easier movements is just the perfect compromise.

All I can say is stock sucks, and the difference will take an all ready enjoyable drive and make it better!

Not hard at all...took 45 mins as everyone else said. Just try not to lose anything. Maybe have a magnetic pick up tool handy just in case. They're always good to have around. Also, go with the MGW, you will not be sorry. I'm running the MGW with gripper **** and love it. Reverse can be a little tough but the rest is sweet as candy.

It is well worth the swap out and not difficult at all. Whatever one you choose is much better than stock. I replaced a Hurst with MGW and love the MGW. If you are thinking of going Hurst, PM me and I can make you a good deal.
