I am looking for advice is selecting new tires, so I am looking to the C5 guys for help. Based on your experience what can you tell me? I have read the tire store comments but looking for real life.
I have Y2K (2000) wheels on my C3. 245/45-17 fronts 255/45-17 rears with falken tires. I really like the look of these tires. low, flat (square profile), smooth sidewall.
I am looking for better Ride quality and maybe some noise reduction. Budget is around $600 to $700
So what can you tell me? whats been good for you and why? what did you like and what should I stay away from? Let me know the manufacturer and the model.
It is going to be awfully tough to get a better ride compared to what you have, especially on a C3. I'm assuming you already have fiberglass leafs and good quality gas shocks like Bilsteins?
Regarding tires, the longest-lasting super high-performance tires are the Goodyear GSD3s. They are very quiet as well, but you will inevitably end up spending more than $700 for 4. Keep in mind, however, that they not only will they last longer than the less expensive tires, but they will outhandle them as well. Again, though, the worth of spending more all depends upon whether your suspension can take advantage of the extra grip.

Thanks Dave,
I do have a fiberglass leaf and Bilsteins, The bilsteins made quite a difference.
I know from experience that tires can too. I put kummos on my lincoln and turned the ride into a truck ride, felt every bump then switched to goodyears and got my ride back.
Now I dont expect or would want a lincoln ride for my C3 but it would be nice if I can get a better ride than the Falkens I have today and keep the look and I need tires. I only drive it on nice days so cold weather and rain are not a big concern.
