I just recently bought a 99 FRC. The dash lights up including the DIC switch. But the dimmer switch does'nt dim. All of the buttons on the DIC switch don't work rest button, etc.. I looked at the fuses and ralays and everything seems fine. I bought a another DIC switch thinking that's the problem but the dimmer switch puzzles me. Any help would be greatly apprecitated.
I'm hoping that the connector from the DIC controller to the rear of the IP Cluster has come off. The dimmer though on the opposite side, has its own connection to the cluster. Are the headlamps working normally? Parking lights? It could be an issue with the headlamp switch which has a fairly high failure rate.

All of the headlights work. I have a new DIC switch to put it if that's it. Do u think it might be loose? It'll show Door ajar, low fuel, competitive driving, etc. and it lights up but when I press the buttons they don't do anything.
I got your PM. There's a couple of things to check before pulling the cluster out of the dash. First, pull your codes to see if anything is showing there. Second, Bill Curlee found a wire in the door accordian tube that can and will short to the frame causing all sorts of problems. Past that, for lighting only then I would suggest the headlamp switch but with scrolling messages, its probably not that.

I'm gonna check out that door tube to see if it's that. I'm also gonna go to advanced auto and have them check for any codes.
