Default which one will you buy?

a 1998 Corvette Coupe with 90,000 miles for 13K or a 2004 Pontiac GTO with 38,000 miles for 14K?

I love your Autobot symbol but is that a real question? THE GTO is a nice car but as different as vette and mustang. I would go for a vette but you could probably find a lower mileage one in that price range. You could always go with a mallet racing solstice.

Depends on what you want. The GTO (flamesuit on) is lightyears ahead of a C5 in terms of interior quality. It also has a backseat, but no real trunk space. The Vette will hold value better (I've watched the value of my '05 GTO drop drastically over the past 6 months :sob: ), and is a much more purpose built machine. The GTO is built like an old muscle car brought up to modern standards. Big, swoopy, and damn those seats are comfortable.

The GTO is a great car in all honesty. I love mine, but I think I'd rather have a Vette personally. Just wish I could afford both.

Lets see, the GTO (and I use that name lightly)...is a cross between a Grand Am and a Grand Prix...... and frankly, the car is friggin hideous..... so yea, buy the Vette

I'd rather have the Vette, but preferrably one with less miles on it.

Go with the Grand-a... er I mean GTO. They are far more aerodynamic!! The Gran... er I mean GTOs have better motors too. The Grand Ams DO'H, I mean GTOs are way lighter too so it will be easier on the acceleration. Not too mention the Gran... uh GTOs stand out of the crowd of the regular cars, they look soooo cool and the Corvette just looks like everything else on the road. Gran... er GTO for sure!!!

Wow...

First off the GTO held true to the "theme" laid forth by the original GTO. Plane Jain car, big friggin motor. So if you don't want a GTO because you don't like the way it looks, you're totally missing the point of the car. Edit: How many people back in the 60's said they wouldn't buy a GTO because "It looks like a Tempest"?

And yes AlexSmith, unless you have a C5Z or better, it does have a better engine. Sorry to point out the one fallacy in your otherwise brilliant satire

Drive both of them and see what you like. Peace-of-mind-wise, I'd rather have the newer car. Performance-wise, Vette. Comfort-wise, GTO. Name-wise, Vette. They are much more evenly matched than the general population here will lead you to believe, trust me. I've owned two GTO's and spent quite a bit of time under/in/around a few C5's...

GTO= 389 cubic inches, 3 2bbl rochester carbs and an M22 Rock Crusher with 3:90 gears!! THATS A GTO

Hey bro, the General stopped making the GTO in 1967. If you dont agree that the present day version looks alot like..... well a Grand Am.... then you are in denial. I wouldnt buy the new version if they were $5,000. brand new..... well maybe just to turn around and sell it.

I don't deny that it looks Grand Prix-ish. Actually, I see alot more Dodge Avenger in it, strangely enough. With the proportions of a Cavalier. But that only reinforces the fact that it IS a GTO. As I said, plain Jane car, big friggin motor.

And BTW, the LS2 GTO is the fastest GTO ever produced.

Hate it all you want, I don't care. You're turning a blind eye to one of the best cars to have rolled off of GM's sales lots in a long time. Have you ever even taken a ride in one?
