Default Tire alignment

I am ready to have my 2nd front end alignment because of the way the outside edges are wearing. The tires are wearing beautifully across the tread, but the outside edges are wearing a lot faster. I have had two alignments and the owner simply says the fronts are going to wear that way because that's the way it is. I say "bulls%^&t.
Any suggestions are welcome. Alan

If you have your camber/toe set to aggressive stock specs, you will wear the inside of the tyre.

Been there, done that.

You will need to have your car set up on the conservative end of the stock settings. Expect the car to lose a lot of its nimbleness and quick turn-in, but expect tyres to last a little longer.

+ 1 on that. The negative camber won't kill you in the short term, butthe TOE will... if you're wearing the outside edges, I'd check to be sure you're not getting alot of TOE IN.

Zero Toe up front would be best for tire wear to last. If you're not doing any track days or autocrosses and such, you should be just fine set like that.

I don't track or race my car (with the exception of the occasional stop light buggie). All I want is a GOOD alignment, and I consider if the outside edges are wearing faster, then I am not getting a good alignment.

I misread "outside" as "inside" edge.

Depending on the tyres you are running, outside edge wear can indicate not enough negative camber.

Perhaps your alignment is too conservative for the tyres you have.

What pressures are you running up front?

Did the alignment shop give you a spec sheet after you last alignment?

What are the current specs?

Caster was 7.0 left and 5.9 right
Camber was -.6 left and -1.3 right
Toe was 0 left and 1.05 right and 1.05 total

I don't really know what the numbers mean.

use this at your own risk!!!
i would set it to

+6.0 to +7.0 Caster (same both sides)
-.6 camber per side (same both sides)
0 total toe

this is all good you can adjust camber + or - depending how you drive if you hang curves you could go up to -1.0 if you are straight liner -.2

I ran -1.7 on my mustang but i drove hard on the street in the old days!!

You should not be getting outside tire wear if you are running negative camber. Negative camber means the the top of the tire is tilted inward.

For street use, Camber should be no more than -1/8 degree or you will get inside tire wear. Toe-in should be zero to 1/32". Caster should be equal side to side. Caster affects how the car tracks, but does not affect tire wear.
If you are getting outside tire wear with negative camber, most likely there is excessive toe-in, or the wheels may even be toed out.
