Default HUD issue

Having purchased my vert last fall and only now getting to know it, I noticed some human hair inside HUD unit. How it got there is a good question, but a better one is how do I get it out? Is there some way to access the interior to clean it out? Anyone got any ideas? Thnx Rob

Is the hair on the mirror where you can reach down in the opening in the dash to get at it?

If not, as far as I know you need to remove the console, fascia and dash panel to get at the HUD.

Some guys have fitted HUDs to non HUD cars so they may have better info than me.

That sounds bad. I can let you have the guides form the manual if you decide to strip it down but its a long job. Theres nothing mentioned on cleaning; just HUD replacement procedures.

There is a how to on installing HUD on non-HUD cars in the C5 Tech DIY Sticky. As far as opening the HUD unit itself, I think it is glued together, so you have to cut/pry it apart. There was a guy who had to replace the gears inside the unit so he could adjust it, but I have no idea how you would search for it with the search issues this site now has. I will dig around and see if I can get you some links.

Heres the thread on fitting the HUD. There isn't a good picture of the HUD projector but I can see why you're prepared to live with it.

It must be during manufacture

You need to PM the mods to have the other deleted. Post up in the dupe thread and link to this one.
