My battery is totally dead. Won't even jump start. What have I lost as far ar the computer is concerned? Have I just lost radio, seat, mirror, steering settings? My friend told me all the drive/engine computer settings would reset themselves after driving for 50 miles or so? Is there anything that I will need to take into the dealer for or should I be fine? Thanks.
GM advises disconnecting the battery if you aren't going to drive it for 25 days or so (to avoid a dead battery). So, there is no problem from no current to all the computers other than the clock and maybe radio presets.
No problems. Just install the new battery and reset your radio, clock, and seats. Start the car up and drive it. It will re-learn everything it needs to operate.

Thanks alot. Is this battery on the shelf at most auto parts stores or is it special order?
In theory you should only lose the HUD settings, they will go back to default.
You may need to drive it a few miles for the TPS monitors to recalibrate, I've seen those values sit at 0 psi for a half dozen miles then come back alive.
Other than what has been mentioned above the only thing you might find messy is if you have the THEFT LOCK radio in the car. Should be something on the radio face plate or a plate on the dash that says THEFT LOCK. Even with that radio unless someone set the pass code for the radio you won't have a problem. If the radio is a problem the Stealer will want a fortune to unlock it. Do a search on the Forum and there was a recent thread about how to get it unlocked........
