Default CAI fit question

it appears that the massflow sensor is different 97-00 and 01-04. what effect does this have on the use of a CAI (dual or split "Y" type snorkle) and does the CAI have to be specifically designed for models 97-00 and 01-04 or can the same unit be used for any C5 model year?

thanks for the help.

Most aftermarket intakes include two versions - one for the 97-00 and one for the 01-04 C5s. To avoid installation hassles, get the one that was designed for your C5. And by the way, the dual cone types are NOT CAIs, as they do not pull outside air. If you do use this type, you might want to open up the fog light panels and perhaps add Z06 screens.

i guess part of my confusion results from the fact that a lot of the parts suppliers list units spanning 97-04 and don't differentiate model years as i questioned. are they applicable to all C5's??

...highly unlikely unless they include an adapter of sorts. You can always call the supplier or manufacturer to verify.
