Default Ti Catback Mod

Ive seen a post before about the ti cat back mod. I was just wondering if there is any power gained by this? Or is it just for the sound?

My worries are I am going to have a very free flowing exhaust 1 7/8 3inch mid pipe no cats!

I guess if I can gain a couple HPs and get a deaper tone I am all for it.

Pretty safe to say there's no HP gains on the Ti mod, it's strictly for sound.

Okay here is my setup:

Had TI when I bought the Z. Took them off and put on the Borla Quad Ovals and loved the new sound.

Put on LG Streets long tube headers and still had the Borla and OMG what a beautiful WOT sound did this car make. BUT, unfortunately I was now too loud for my local autocross events; 93 decibel limit and I was breaking just past it.

Reluctantly I put the TI exhaust back on and the sound is good at WOT but the throttle down is a bit raspy and not as healthy sounding to me. I miss the Borla sound with the headers.

Yes but you don't have the TI bypass mod done do you? With the bypass mod it sounds awesome IMO.

the problem is welding the titanium. I would not trust the corner muffler shop welding titanium.

I just had mine done. Sounds good. I used 1.5" tubing but if I had to do it again I would get 2" tubing to make them just a bit louder. Sounds really good at WOT not loud at cruise or idle just a little deeper than stock. I have LT and cats. I plan to run it a while like this but I kept my Corsa Indys to eventually go back to. Also anyone who welds stainless regularly will be able to weld Ti. But be aware the tubing is HARD stuff very tuff to cut. Have fun.
