Hey all. Anyone know what the factory tint was on a 2002 vert? The original owner of my car tells me that the car came tinted, but I swear that it's MUCH darker then a factory would tint it. Not sure of a percentage, but lets just say that night driving is almost impossible with the windows up. I'd guess it's no less then 30-40% tint.
I've been meaning to know the answer to this too. Compared to other cars, the windows, especially the rear, are lightly tinted. It's just too light to tell how much.
I agree. I have a 2002 and mine is slightly "tinted" I guess you could say. None of my pieces of glass appear to be that way with the naked eye. They're all crystal clear. I don't think it's really much of a "tint" -- it's more of a UV shield perhaps. When I put on my sun glasses I can see weird colored diamond shapes on the glass. There's some sort of film on there but not the typical pitch black tint you see on other cars or the rear window glass of a pickup truck.

I agree, its a UV shiled that is in the window. I know the factory didnt tinit windows.
HI Vette owners, I’ve got a silver C5 2004 couple black interior it has been tinted but it is so dang hot here in Arizona and the car is ridiculously hot, I’ve had it for 15 years, bought it used 2004, and decided to strip the window tint, and put ceramic tint on assuming that it’ll be better than what I have. Anybody particularly fond of the ceramic window tint? I hear it’s supposed to be a lot cooler? I’m just gonna go with the legal limit as far as percentage of the place. I just took it to a place they said they couldn’t strip that rear window and that it was too difficult , hoping to find another place that’s reputable and not too expensive.
another question has anybody put extra tint or ceramic tint on their sunroof top? I have , hoping to find another place that’s reputable and not too expensive. Hey another question has anybody put extra tent or ceramic tent on there sunroof top? I have both tops, metal and see-through, even though the see-through is tinted, the sun is scorching my head, and I have to wear a hat , so I was thinking of getting that sun roof tee top tinted too.

Reason: Typo
From what I can tell on my 2003, there was no noticeable factory tint. Though, I am in the process of evaluating some ceramic tint to help with heat/UV and appearance.

Thanks bud, I'm planning to get my side windows re-tinted with Ceramic first and see if that's enough of a change. Gotta keep parking under a tree here. lol. 111 today

You can buy a head liner for the see through top, but I found cutting a sheet of the foil faced foam
insulation to just fit inside the perimeter frame to cut inside temps on the order of 20 degrees F.

Thanks for the idea! The tinting company won't tint the top as not sure if it is glass and they think it will crack, maybe I can buy a sheet of ceramic tint and do it myself. Is that what you meant by "Foil"?
I just don't want to ruin it so I'll be careful.
