Can someone tell me the GM recall # for the recall where they removed the lock plate-My shop says they didn't remove the lock plate-I believe they're wrong.

my relay failed, so i took it to the dealer, they warrenty all parts including recall items for only 12 months. Youd think if it was important enough to be a SAFETY recall and to bring your car in and fix for free theyd want to KEEP it fixed, but once they figure they did it once who cares what happens after that attitude. The dealership is such a peice of ****, they dont give a **** all they want is your money, worst service EVER.

Why do people keep BEATING THIS DEAD HORSE. GM can't fix this problem-never could. If you don't fix it YOURSELF-it won't get fixed-PERIOD.

I installed the COH CLB on my '98 Pace Car. The column is now unlocked permanently, and I can turn the steering wheel freely without the key. But after I installed the CLB - I am now receiving the "PULL KEY-WAIT 10 SECS" message every time I start the car.

Per COH's instructions, I pulled the #23 and the #25 fuse. I also pulled the #29 fuse. I have had our tuner go into the PCM with HP Tuners and set the fuel shutoff parameter to 255mph (which is the max), so at least now the fuel doesn't shut off. The car does not have the "K" harness or the relay.

I tried a second CLB that is brand new and the stupid message still appears. If I turn the key on, wait a few seconds, the message appears - and then I turn off the key, pull it out and then I restart...all is well. How do I get the message to not appear - what I have I missed?

It's not an issue of affecting the operation of the car - it's simply an inconvenience having the message on the DIC that a reset will not clear. I usually subscribe to the philosophy "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but I thought I was avoiding an issue by installing the kit - instead I have created an issue when I didn't have one.

On a side note, does you shop use the HP Tuners on tunes? I may be interested in talking to you about a few things I would like done to my 04.

Thanks for the info, Chuck. I printed out the post from ROCK N ROLL and I'm going to give to our guys in the shop to see what they think. After they try it - I'll post up the results....yea or nea!

As far as tuning software - yes we use HP Tuners to tune in our shop. We have a Dyno-Jet in the shop - a tune includes normally about three pulls plus a driveability tune.

Please give me a call - I'd be happy to talk with you about your needs!

As I promised - here's an update on the CLB issue that I'm having with the '98 Pace Car. I had Cody - our lead tech follow the instructions on RocknRoll's post about cleaning up the grounds on G201 and G202.

Cody told me that they were both pretty clean and tight, but he took the connectors off anyway, sanded down the connection point to assure good ground, and reassembled the connections.....this morning the "PULL KEY & WAIT 10 SECS" message appeared at start up.

So now, I'm at a loss as to what to try next.....anyone have any suggestions?

The Pace Car is an MN6 - so I will show this to Cody and see what he thinks. Thanks for the help - Chuck! I'll keep you posted.

BTW - are you still looking for a tune?

Not all Pace Cars were manual, only 547 out of 1163. Mine happens to be a manual!

My recall was done in 2001 and just went through the hassel of the steering column lock service DIC notice that shut my fuel off. Had it towed to my repair shop and had the CLB installed for $85 plus the CLB cost. What a deal.
