Default Hatchback glass

My car had a decal on the inside if the rear hatchback. I asked the dealer to remove it. Well the decal is gone and so is some of the orangeish looking coating on a few of the lines that are the rear window defogger (I guess). The defogger seems to work, not sure how to test it, but the dash light does come on.
Does anyone know how to refresh these lines? I guess its just me but this '02 only has 13000 miles on it. I want to keep it as prestine as I can.

Is it the actual "lines" or the dots? The defogger lines are gone, the circut is probably broken and won't work. If it's the dots, also called the matrix , that shouldn't cause a problem. I'd take it back to the dealer and have them test it. Make sure you have your paperwork from the work done and if it's toast, make them replace the unit.

These are the lines. the are not gone, but some of the coating is gone. The body shop manager who did the work said it will work fine.. The rear hatchbacks cost $600 to $800 to replace.

If it's at the top of the glass,it's the radio antenna, bottom of the glass is the defogger.
Turn the defogger on,see if the strips get warm,if so,then it will still work.
Other than painting the lines on,I dont think there's any way to restore them.
Maybe take it back to the Idiot dealer, and have him replace the glass?
I Would, but what you do is up to you.

If it works then I wouldn't bother. If you're worried about the coating, get the rear window tinted. It'll cover the wiring and help keep the interior carpet from fading and the AC won't have to work as hard.

$600 to $800...try $1300 from GM

This is what happened when I used my rear defroster. Thank God for insurance.
