As far as I know all of the C-5's (1997 through 2004) had the limited slip differential (posi). i haven't heard of any year model c5 not having it.

If your talking about posi-traction, then all Corvettes have had it since '57, but it was an option back then.

You know, back when I was less informed (that would be before I replaced my rear tires ) I did notice that in addition to it being quite a chore to break traction on the rear tires, it would often leave one black stripe, or a short one and a long one, but I dont think I ever saw two nice black ones.

Caused a mechanic friend to ask if it had posi traction, which I thought it did, but he seemed to think that the way the wheels spun when they did indicated that it wasnt what he understood as regular posi traction (should have left two equal strpies each time).

Whatever. The acceleration off the line is outstanding, and I just figured it was doing what it was designed to do, dig in and go. But prior to my little experiment I thought with everything off it would smoke the wheels easier.

Friends with MN6 C5's have driven the car, although basicaly stock, power is not the problem It runs strong, just not that easey to break the Michelins loose (although Im not trying to any more).
