Hi there fellas. What a cool site. I am the owner of a black 99 coupe. No pictures yet but just imagine a stock C5 black coupe and thats it. By looking at some of yalls rides, it seems that mine is pretty plain....but its a vette so who cares.
I am not getting any power to either the power outlet in the console or the cigarette lighter near the ash tray. Is the fuse for these two outlets the same and what is it marked on the fuse box. I know my question is amature as I am an amature. I am getting lots of helpful info from you guys and would like some help with this one.
Welcome and try the Tech section or do I search for fuse id/location. Sorry I couldnt be of any help. But once again, welcome and enjoy. You will find this site extremely informative and a great place to spend in your down time. Good luck.
Welcome.
I believe the fuse should be in the fuse box under the dash on passenger side should be a sticker on the lid to identify? If I'm wrong see advise above...
8VETTE7 is right... what you need to do is look under your passenger-side floormat, for a removable kick-panel right about where the passenger's feet would rest. Take that panel off and you'll see a big black box underneath. There is a big flat **** on it that unscrews and you can take the lid off. Underneath this lid, you'll see a bunch of fuses.
The two lighter adapters each have their own fuse, so if neither of yours are working, you'll want to check both fuses. The underside of the lid has a diagram and a chart to tell you which fuse is which. For example, the chart might show "console lighter" as fuse 7; then the diagram shows you where fuse 7 is located in the cluster of fuses.
Now, these fuses are TINY and you won't be able to pull them out without a fuse puller. Your car should have a fuse puller, but it's located within the fuse box next to your battery. If you remove that fuse box lid, you'll see more fuses, and what looks like a tiny white pair of tweezers sticking out of the middle. That there is your fuse puller. Take that out, then stick it onto the proper fuse from your other fusebox. It will click in place; then simply pull it back out.
If your fuse is bad, you'll see a severed metal wire inside. It's pretty obvious. That fuse box by your battery, also has spare fuses. They are identified by the chart on that lid. So, if you do find blown fuses, grab appropriate spares and plug them in.
This happened to me last week... I found my console lighter didn't work while my other one did; Found that it was indeed a blown fuse!
