Default Gas Door Removal

I need to remove the gas door and I'm not quite sure how to do this. It's probably really easy but rather get some input before I make an attempt. I've heard rumor you can break these things pretty easily. Thanks guys...

Tie a rope to it, and hook the other end to a passing truck.

The rest is intuitive.
Remove the fuel cap retaining strap.
Remove the screws that mount the door to the quarter panel.
Remove the bolt mounting the fuel door to the inner body panel.

I've done it several times...it's a little tricky to get that thing out of there without some tugging and jerking, just stay with it and it will suddenly come free...it's a very tight fit...you can jam the inner panel closer to the center of the car a little....every little bit will make a big difference.

Am I to assume it is going to be a PITA to put back on?

You got it! Here's a tip: to put the main screw back in place put something sticky on the screw head so you don't lose it...if it drops off the screwdriver before you line it up with the hole you are dead. A magnetic tip might do the trick too.

Hi There:
I bought a magnetic ratcheting screw driver several years ago has a screw on end cap that holds different bits. Sounds like the ticket for this job. No more lost head light mounting screws.
craftsman p/n 41466 cost around $15.
