Default Phantom adjusting mirror!

For some reason, beyond me, spirits have taken control of my passenger side mirror. When I hit the unlock button,it just goes all over the place. I try to set it (move it to position i want, hold the 1 button) so that it will set to my preference when I use the unlock button, but it will randomly go all over the place, sometimes ends up pointing straight at the ground.

Anyone have an idea why it does this? and how I can fix it?

thanks!

my girlfriends 02 did the same thing except on the driver side...PITFA...then one day it just started working again. I would venture to say that you control module for the mirror is shot

Mine does this on the passenger side on occasion. It's really wierd. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I'm gonna try cleaning the grounds, and perhaps try replacing the BCM.

Mine started doing this after a body-shop replaced the mirror. They put in one without the memory option which was the cause. I'll guess that the connector to your mirror may have some corrosion on the pins causing a loss of position feedback therefore it doesn't know where it is as opposed to where it should be.

This has been a common problem on all C5's,GM has never fixed it! I even cut off my memory function and the right mirror at times will adjust itself even now.
