Default Wheels Swap (opinions)

I got My C6-Z Chrome Repo wheels because they were in stock, and I wanted new tires really more than wheels. (I wasn't thinking too well)

They look okay, but don't really blend well with the "stealthy" look of the rest of the car. My biggest complaint about these wheels is I spend almost as much time cleaning the wheels as I do the entire interior and exterior.

I want to swap them out for the black with Machined face version like this car:

Totally a matter of taste -- I think that's kind of a trendy look.

I think the black centers with machined rims will look great today and in the long run...

They look good to me. But I feel on you on the stealth look. My wheels were suppose to be done today. Negative, another week the powdercoater tells me.

I usually go in favor of the chrome wheels, but those machine faced ones look awesome.

Next question: Looking for a vendor that sells the machined face in: 18x9.5 and 19x10

I may get another set of rear tires that are a little less "rubber band" looking. I'd like to match the thickness of the front tire.

If the cleaning problem is from brake dust - get some ceramic brake pads.

Brake dust isn't too much of a problem. It's the occasional rain storm, and mis-guided lawn sprinklers. My car's a daily driver and I detail it about once a month. When the chrome is clean it's CLEAN, i just don't care for the crazy effort for a wheel i don't really think matches

I have to find where to get the replacement wheels first. I plan to keep the tires (at least the front ones) i will probably keep the backs too.....until i destroy them in a plume off smoke. I"ll let you know.

I peronally think you will like the change. But, they still need polishing.

Honestly I like both!

The second ones do look pretty dang good! I'd say to try to let the new ones grow on you a bit then make a decision

I got them on mine and I love 'em

Thanks,Matt

Go with the black machined wheels, they really make that car stand out. And stay away from ceramic pads, not worth the braking performance you lose.

I think those machined wheel have the look your talking about. They actually look really aggressive on that vette, I'm wondering if they aren't a larger size. Almost seems like they are 19/20s.

I am not big on the black wheel look, as I believe it is a trend now and may not last, whereas chrome has been around forever. With that said, I do however think that on some cars the black wheels or the machine finoshed wheels do look good on certain cars. They would work well with yours.

As for cleaning I agree 110%. I spend a lot more time on mine then I did on the original polished aluminum wheels.

I always thought chromies were an easy clean up, just a daily wipe down with a microfiber and that's all it took? Am I wrong?

I'm not a "daily-cleaner" type. The C6-Z style is about a 3 on a scale of 10 on difficulty to clean.....the same cannot be said for the 98 vert in the garage:

These are ALMOST as much of a PITA as a set of wire wheels. Thankfully the car never sees water.....or road for that matter I'd been in hibernation for the past few months.
