Default c5 vs. gt500

i was wondering if anyone has ever raced a gt500 with their vette. a guy in town has one and was saying how its faster than anything around etc... so i was thinking about inviting him to the local drag strip for a friendly little race im 370 rwhp and will have some m/t drag radials and some drag racing experience... him stock tires/car and no experience as far as i can tell.... so i guess im asking what you think the outcome will be im hoping some of you have some experience racing one

If you can launch your Vette,I think you can win even thou he has more HP and you have a lot less weight to your advantage. It should be a good race.

If I am a betting man I am on you all the way....The weight advantage and running drag radials. The mustangs are heavy and starving for traction. Good Luck

You hook up you should win as the Gt500 is slightly faster than the new SS Camaro

Unless he has done some moddig and has DRs, you'll take it fairly easily.

Your sig doesn't say, but I'm assuming you're 6 speed, so if you've got expereince and he doesn't, the race is proably over already

I had one run in with one of them a little over a year ago, and it was NOT impressive at all. Those things are pretty heavy.

I ran one when I was bone stock in the 1/8 last summer. He was a novice driver, I took him off the line but ended up losing by 2 hundreths.

The GT500 is a supercharged 500hp/480tq (flywheel) 12.8 ride. I would think that a Z06 should handle it without a problem, and C5 coupe would be a drivers race.

From the numbers I see in magazines, you should easily beat him, especially with the lighter weight FRC and your add-ons. Bring it on!

Then, take him to a race course for additional fun. That will be an even worse beating.

The "advertized" #s are in the low 13s from what I've seen, even though magazines will "try and try" until they get a low # to publish
I don't think a "inexperienced" driver (per OP) can cut 12's with a six speed and on stock tires.
