A friend of mine runs his stock vette a (Vert ,M6) with drag radials at Atco and runs in the low 12's I do think you will win.. He is on the forum as Capt Huff
low 12's stock w/ just DR's? wow that good numbers
the gt500 are pretty slow cause of there weight and the also have an irs so people have a harded time launching.... but on the other side if u puts a smaller pulley and a tune u better watch out lol
GT500 is a solid axle car my brotha.

That youtube link is great. The Z06 beat that shelby across the board
With my flame-suit on, I am going to respectfully disagree.
Solid axle and much more HP will prove to be very difficult for a Vette. Given equal HP figures (as in Z06) I would go with the Vette, but only 375 does not make me feel very confident.
If both drivers are experienced, it should be close(r), but to get the IRS of our cars to launch, even with drag radials is a hit and miss proposition. Fact is, it is easier to hook a live-axle than IRS.
BEWARE...with only a pulley change you can really add HP to the GT 500. Don't get sucker-punched. They are heavier but the HP is the "X" factor for sure.
I am pulling for the Vette...........take him down !
My bet is on you. The stang is a brick. You should win. Seen them get beat alot. But there are some that are VERY fast. Make sure he is stock. Other than that you might have your hands full. Good Luck
The "advertized" #s are in the low 13s from what I've seen, even though magazines will "try and try" until they get a low # to publish
I don't think a "inexperienced" driver (per OP) can cut 12's with a six speed and on stock tires.
He came around me right at the 1/8. I tried running out though second and hit the limiter. The car was quick once it was going, but it was a pig outta the hole.
OOOKKKK....
The fact that the car in the video is a KR, with custom intake, light hood, custom exhaust and custom tune that adds 40 hp, and IT only runs 12.8 with a driver that probably knew what he was doing, would leave me to believe that the earlier cars with an "average" driver, would indeed run in the 13s.
As I mentioned earlier, I USED to have 414rwhp NA, and the brief "run in" I had with one was a joke
Whatever they run, I personally have made the necessary "adjustments" so that I won't have to be concerned.
I am simply interested in the OP MAKING a STATEMENT to his buddy.

I have a near stock Mustang GT that I've done 13.7 in many times, on streets. The Shelby is quicker than a lot of you guys think. Here is a link to a video of me racing a GT500. Fast forward to 1:40 (didn't know how to edit video back then). I smoked him off the line but that didn't matter much, he blew my doors off. And before anyone goes off on the passenger without a helmet...I've heard it all before, you are correct, wouldn't do it again, the track allowed for cars over 13...but all the same it wasn't a smart move.
