My fuel door won't open using the release button.I have to do it manually from inside the trunk.I checked the fuse,it's ok.I did have the battery disconnected recently for a Dyno. This is the first time I''ve tried opening it since last fall.can anyone give me some suggestions? thanks
Did you ever have the center console removed? Off the top of my head, I can only suggest checking the wire connection underneath it that goes to the fuel button area. Maybe it has come loose, or was not re-attached?

is it making a poping noise that it is trying to release the door.My release mechanism was dry and had no lube.I used some white lithuim grease on the release mechanism and the hinge and haven' had a problem since.
I agree that you need to find out if its electrical or mechanical

I have a similar problem. My fuel door opens, but only in 15 seconds after pressing the button. Besides, it is necessary to press once again the button to close fuel door.
Sorry, but I have Corvette recently. May be it is ok???

Help Please!!!
If you have to hold down the fuel door release button for 15 seconds for it to activate, I would be looking for high-resistance corrosion. Somewhere. Do some continuity tests, some voltage-drop tests as the circuit is triggered. Or, run a new wire, bypassing the existing harness.

It may be caused by corrosion in the actuator. I've got a write-up done by a forum member back in '08 on how to fix the actuator if that is the problem. If you'd like a copy, just PM me your e-mail address with Fuel Door Actuator in the subject line.

As for the OP problem. Happened to me the first day I bought my car!! And a couple times since, the connector comes loose.

It's usually required for you to start a new thread about your specific problem when the thread you post in had been dead for so long.
Waking up an old thread will get the thread locked.
You need to descibe your problem a little bit more so we can help you, unless you have already found your answer.
Corvettezman, understood sir. Will do in the future. Just wanted to give the forum for helping me out. I was pretty much out of gas/luck until I found this thread. I had left the manual at home. So yes I found what I needed. Thanks Joe as well
