Most A4s don't have the column lock. Only the early A4s until 2000 were fitted with the "offender"
You might want to add "Not fitted" to your poll.
Models fitted with column lock:
Certain 1997-2004 Chevrolet Corvette equipped with a manual transmission, 1997-2000 Chevrolet corvette equipped with an automatic transmission, and certain 2001-2004 Chevrolet corvette equipped with an automatic transmission – European export only.
The reason I posted this was to get an Idea of how many of the A4s actually had problems with the k-harness. I know most the M6s had problems with the k-harness and therefore the better choice was the CLB. But like I said I have had the k-Harness in mine for over 2 yrs and not a problem at all.
I had the K harness in my 99 for about 20 minutes. That's how long it took to drive home from the dealer after installation and then I got the pull key wait 10 seconds and the fuel shutoff in my driveway....car flatbedded back to dealer and had the harness removed...ordered a CLB from COH and installed it in the parking lot of the dealership 2 days later.....true story
98 with 5 years on the K harness and no problems.
First I installed a CLB and got stranded the next day with it!
Then I took my car to a dealer who refused to do the recall because my car wasn't listed yet!
So I went home and got the parts myself and did the recall and never have had an issue since.
I removed the lockplate and installed a Harness K kit on my 2004 Z06 over 5 years ago and it is still working fine.
I got one of the original black relay kits, where the relays seem to last longer than the replacement kits.
same thing with me, had it installed in 2007, went bad about 2 weeks ago, and installed the CLB. I knew the dealer wouldnt do anything but i gave the service person a bunch of **** anyway.
