Gas Guage Problem
If you have owned a C5 for more than say 5 minutes, or have been on this forum you know that C5's are prone to gas guage problems. Well high quality gas and a good dose of Techron every now and then keeps the problem in check.
My C5 and C4 are not DD's, just fun weekend toys to drive around and go to car shows. C4 being stock and my C5 is my mod machine.
Well yesterday I am driving my C5 and the low fuel warning comes on. I look at the gas guage and sure enough its about on E. Not being my DD and thinking that I know I filled it up about 3 weeks ago I should have plenty of gas. Well with my busy work schedule I am lucky to remember what I had for breakfast yesterday so I totally forgot that I took a 200 mile trip to Lowes Motor Speedway about 2 weeks ago for the Auto Fair. (Had a great time and saw lots of vettes and cool cars)
Thinking that it is the gas guage going crazy I don't pay any attention to it. Just befor I go home I decide to top off the gas tank and add some Techron.
As I am topping off the tank, so I think, I watch the pump go past 4 gallons, past 5, past 6 and finally stop at 15 gallons. My eyes go
as the thought of runnning out of gas on the side of the road passes through my thick head

I got so used to the gas guage being wrong that when it was right I did not pay any attention to it and almost ran out of gas.
Note to self. Self - keep gas tank topped off!!!!!

I always zero my trip odometer at each fill up - it kind of provides a sanity check so that I know how many miles I've driven on each full tank. Call it OCD if you want, but in a case like yours - I would have at least known how many miles ago I tanked up.

I use my trip odometer also and use Seafoam,nothing beats if for the money. Mine went dead over a year ago and after 3 bottles of techron in three months I gave up,then about 6 months later a club member told me about Seafoam,it worked in one tank full.

Running out of gas is not a good thing - for the inconvenience it causes and also because it's not good on the fuel pump. Glad you caught it in time.
