Default Seat cover install

How many of you guys have done your own seat cover install? I was looking at the instructions on Vette Essentials and it looks quite overwhelming. How hard is this to do really?

It's not that hard to do. If you follow the vette essentials instructions, be careful when you get to the part wher you have to cut the holes for seat adjustment controls. Make sure the seat bottom is snugged up before you cut the hole. If it is not snug, when you do snug it up the hole will not match up.

I just did my skins using the VE instructions and I will say this... I put off doing them for about a month waiting for someone to help me because it looked like a PITA. Finally I got tired of waiting and just did them... I was very surprised how simple it actually was. I think the instructions from VE are just so thorough that it makes it look difficult. I did spend some extra time getting the bottom cushion just right but it was worth it in the end.

I was going to use the hog rings but whoever changed the skins before I did used zip ties so I just used them too as I already had some. I don't think they have any bearing on the quality of the install vs the hog rings.

Lance, I'm an old man but I did all of my Vette Essential interior myself including seats, door pulls, shifter boot, e-brake boot, etc. Matt's instructions are the greatest. Jump in and do it.

I'm planning on doing Phase I which is the door pulls, arm rests, shift boot/****, e-brake boot/handle and the center console arm rest. How difficult were the shift and e-brake?

Actually the shift boot is the easiest VE piece to install. You don't have to pull the center consul. The e-brake boot is a whole different ball game. You DO have to pull the center consul, but don't let that scare you. Follow the instructions, it takes maybe 15 to 20 minutes to remove everything from the waterfall to the radio surround. Then another 15 minutes or so to replace the e-brake boot and handle, then reverse the instructions.

The door pulls require you to remove the door skins. Don't let that bother you either. I replaced both door pulls in about 1/2 hour.

I did my own also. Went from standard to sport seats. Same frame, just different foam & covers. I also used tie straps which are a lot easier than hog rings.

No probelm. I think the comment about the instructions being so thorough are dead on. It looks intimidating. Hell it was hard enough just to read through all of them. Haha
