Default car key problem

After I've changed the batteries on my key it has stoped working. I have tried to reset it with the car manual instruction but I managed to come to the step 2 or 3 I am not sure and it doesn't go after that, I can't proceed to the next step of instruction. How can I fix my problem? Please help

Open up that key fob again. Check to see if there is a loose conection. Sometimes the solder connection breaks. Usually the part on the top right hand side. A little dab of solder and you are good to go . . . hopefully. Good Luck!

I need to code it from the start, and I've followed the instruction of the car, but after I come to the certain step I can't go further. Any ideas?

If you are going through the reprogramming process and it is not working, chances are that the FOB may not be working. Just to be sure, is this the process you tried:

Turn the ignition to ON. Turn the radio to OFF. Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC warning messages. Press and release the OPTIONS button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank. Press and hold the RESET button for 3 seconds. Press the OPTIONS button until FOB TRAINING message is displayed. Press the RESET button in order to begin the programming sequence. The message HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed. Simultaneously press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the first transmitter for 15 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is programmed and when to proceed to the next. Repeat this procedure for each additional transmitter or press the OPTIONS button to exit.

As was mentioned above, sometimes a solder joint needs to be redone - here's how - http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...em-solved.html

Poolboy, thanks so much for this post. When I first tried it, it didn't work. No loose contacts, so WTF? The battery contacts on the board looked like they had some sort of "buildup". I gently scraped them with a screwdriver, and that worked!. There was some sort of wax that came off the apparently blocked the contact.
Although I'm not 100% sure that was the cause. When I pressed LOCK and UNLOCK the 2nd time, I pressed extra hard. That may have been the problem all along, although I used the normal pressure I would use in day to day operation.
Whatever, thanks again. I love this forum.

I used the procedure above and it works--for a while. But after a few minutes, the FOB goes dead. I re-synch it again, it works, then goes dead. I've got a new battery in it.
Any ideas??
Thanks,

You need to open it up and just touch a soldering iron to the contacts on the chip. there is a post here describing how to do it and which specific contacts just search for it. They had a problem with cold solder joints. I used a battery powered iron from radio shack and did mine. have never had another issue with them.

So you had the same work/not work problem? Seems to me that if it were an electrical problem (bad circuit), it would be consistent---either it works or it doesn't. Not works one minute, then not the next.
I'll give it a try. My neighbor did the solder fix on my dim climate control display.
Now that I think about it, that was sort of the same thing. It was dim, but not completely out. Soldering it brightened it right up.
Thanks
