Default Introducing myself

I recently bought a 2002 Corvette convertible. White on tan. 58,000 miles. 6 spd.

This is my first corvette...in fact until buying this I had never even sat in a vette.

I previously owned a Ferrari F355 -loved the sounds and the looks but lack of torque and an overall feeling of fragility kept me from falling in love with the car.

I also owned a 2001 Viper which I loved very much. Unfortunately some business hiccups caused me to sell both of those a little over a year ago.

As things are improving in my biz I felt I wanted to try something new and the C5 was at the top of my list. I also didnt want to spend a lot in case I didnt like the car. So the one I found was perfect for me.

Over the summer I plan on putting new rims (matte black with polished lip), window tint, smoked lenses and new seat leather (black w tan) on the car. I am also interested in some simple performance mods but Im a newbie in the vette world so still have some research to do (would really like a more aggressive exhaust grumble).

So far I really like the car. Its not really fair to compare to the Vipers torque but its plenty for me. My street racing days are long over. The car feels solid on its feet and its fun to toss around (Viper could be a little bit of a handful at times).

I know the interior has got a bad rap (my Ferrari friends really rag on it) but I dont mind it at all. I kind of like the bare bones feel. The only thing about the car (and its very minor) that bugs me are the feeling of the window switches ..like sticking my fingers in an eyeball or something.

The manual roof is a blessing after dealing with the Ferrari roof and its habit of never working. I was stuck in a down pour once and the roof would not go up. Not fun. I prefer manual.

This forum seems like a cool place and I look forward to contributing.

I've never heard anyone say that about the window switches before. I wonder if I'll get creeped out the next time I roll mine down!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the "new" car.

you hopefully won't be dissapointed with the c5. There are plenty of threads to read about performance and little stuff that breaks with every other vette out there.

Congratulations on your C5! I really don't understand the "sticking your fingers in an eyeball" comment!
