Guys, my 01 (that I have had for two weeks), has sat unstarted for 4 days. Today I went out to drive it to work and the battery was dead. Is this a common problem with C5's? I must admit that I left the GPS plugged in to the accessory plug in the console which may have contributed to the problem. The battery looks to be new, but there is no date punched out nor is there an engraved date indicating an installed date (which is what my local dealer does). I guess I should have the battery load tested. If this is a common problem, what is it that drains the battery so fast? Is there a common issue that people have found?
I have some sort of problem with one of the motors in my drivers seat. Every 10 seconds or so there is a noise from the front of the seat as if one of the power sear motors was actuating. Nothing moves, but there is something going on. Anyway, after a couple days of that happening every 10 seconds, the battery is dead. I unplugged the seat and no battery issues.
I have no idea what that is about, and it doesn't seem to do it all the time. It didn't do it when I first bought the car (September) but then started right before I put it in winter storage. After I got the car back out it didn't do it, but then started up again last week.

Any power drain (GPS, radar detector, etc) will drain the battery (don't ask me how I know this!!) C5's will slowly drain the battery anyway after several weeks, but the GPS is probably the culprit here. Get yourself a good float charger (I use the CTEK 3300, a great unit . Chip @ CCA will hook you up!) and keep it on the battery when it sits.

My `01 vert was doing the same thing on the passenger side. After I'd bought the car I noticed the passenger seat was inoperative. I checked the fuse and it had been removed. I replaced the fuse and the seat started cycling every few seconds. I traced it down to the seat switch itself. I removed the switch, disassembled it and found the circuit board to be shorted out. I replaced the switch and it's worked perfectly since. I believe someone sometime had spilled a drink or something onto the switches? Check it out, it's an easy fix.

You cannot tell by looking at a battery if it is new or not.
Depending on what brand it is, there may be a date code on the label that tells the month and year it was made.
Once a battery goes completely dead, they are never the same, so you might end up having to replace it.
Bobsride here:
I found out the hard and`expensive way that the power outlet is still hot after the car is shut down. I let my valentine pluged in and it was dead. I jumped it once but it really came back. I went out and got a Red-Top and a Battery Tender. Even after a run the battery will take a charge.
Now everything is perfect
Had battery issue few months ago on my 2000. Posted on this forum about it. In the end found out battery tender was shot-Deltron in Florida said no go on warranty, got new battery and left it in house on work bench all winter with new battery tender. Manual says to pull battery if stored more than 25 days or something like that. Five month storage here in Pacific N.W. At any rate no problems now-driving twice a week. Friend left his in 2001 this winter -you guessed it-DEAD. You don't want them to freeze and drip if in cold climate. Several people tell me c-5's draw batteries dead but they can never tell me what draws.
