Default Need a Tire that GRIPS.....!!!!!

I have over 500rwhp and in need of a tire that grips, i understand it will probably be some type of drag radial! Everytime i look at a new tire thread someone else wrote about how great there new tire is, I go out and research it to find that it's not as good for straight line or for corners, or it start getting slick after 3000 miles or extremely noisy, etc, etc!

I want the best all around value tire I can get...

My car is not a Daily driver so I will not be driving in the rain unless i get caught. I just want it to stick to the road while going straight and in corners. I have the old pilots now and they are worse than my bald Kumhos.

Can you guys with different tire experience please help, should i go with nitto NT01 or NT 05, R888's,etc???????

Thank you,

I just bought these pilot sport cups. These have a different tread then the the pilot sports. The outer edge is designed for corners and the rest has great grip. I have only clocked a few miles on them but compare to my Falkens that were on the car, these are like night and day.

Street Legal, Competition Ready. A DOT-approved competition tire, the MICHELIN® Pilot® Sport Cup tire offers extreme cornering grip and consistent lap times.

Features and Benefits
Consistent Performance — Lap After Lap
A race-inspired tread compound results in enduring performance characteristics in both wet and dry conditions, with consistent lap times over the entire life of the tire.

Powerful Performance Cornering
An asymmetric tread design utilizes a semislick outer tread and a wet-styled inner tread design to help deliver powerful wet and dry cornering, promoting high performance confidence.

Race-Like Reflexes
The high-tensile steel cords and polyamide belt package help provide enormous support for the tread and crown areas for consistently powerful cornering capability and quick steering responses.

For non-wet surface tires, those are about as good as they get.

I just put on the Nitto 555R2's out back and the Nitto NT-05's on the front. I wanted lot's of grip for drag racing with cornering ability cuz I like to take the corners fast in the mountains, and you don't need sidewall flex, so that leaves out drag radials. Go to Nitto's site and check out their products, they have a great site for figuring out what you want...........

Do like the invos better than your last setup? Whats better..straight line or cornereing with the invo's?

Thank you for the responses

I run NT05s all around, they work really well.
I'd say Nitto makes great street/road course tires. Theyre not much for drag tires tho.

I've had them for about 1000 miles so far,I live on the wet side of the PNW and I drive my car all the time, rain doesn't bother me,I was a little nervous at 1st but after driving in heavy rain and not losing traction at all I'm very comfortable with them,I have about the same HP as you and with my old Falkins I would spin through 3rd gear when I would get on it hard, now with these I hardly spin in 2nd when getting on it,I did go with 305's for the rear tires so there is alot more tire on the ground,as far as noise I don't know what others are saying about that, mine are quite, can't hear them at all through the headers. The only thing I could say bad about them, its when you are on a road that is not in the best condition, being that they are wider it will dart a little bit,I also went with 285 on the front so that could be why it darts.
i haven't done any real hard driving in the corners so I really can't say alot about that, maybe someone that has will chime in on that. They are very sticky so straight line traction is great in my opinion. As good as they are for traction I would think they would be great in the corners,i almost went and did an auto-X last Sunday,i should have and then I would have been able to give you a good report,if you wait i'm pretty sure I'll do a auto-X on June 7th,then I would have a better report on corners.Good luck

I just put a set of ra1's on. Hopefully they will make it 3k miles. I always thought I had stiff suspension til I put these on. Now I feel how weak the sways and brakes are.
