Default Carpet Problem

Stupid question, but I'm stumped. The carpet in our 99 FRC came loose along the tunnel on the Driver's Side during an autocross. I tucked it back in and it fell right back out on the first turn of the next run. There's only about 1/8" of material going under the console plastic. The Helms manual only says it's tucked under the console pieces. I don't know why it stayed in place for 10 years and now won't go back. I can't find anything like a clip that might have previously held it in place. Any experience or ideas on keeping it in place? Thanks in advance.

Removed the seat, belts, etc. Then the entire carpet piece. The carpet is bonded to heavy rubber and the insulation is bonded to the other side. Over time, the rubber going up the tunnel had sagged and taken a set that way. I could not reform it with a heat gun, etc. Ended up cutting the tunnel side off completely. Then bought heat insulation blanket (aluminum on both sides) at a the SoCal Street Rod shop. Used high temp adhesive to glue it to the tunnel after cutting to shape. Then used the adhesive to glue new carpet over it. We're racing this weekend and it will be very hot. So, if it holds, I guess we're home safe.

I added insulation a while back and had the same problem due to added thickness. I bought some double-sided carpet tape at Lowes for about $5.00 and it took care of the problem
