I drove the Route 66 from one end to the other in the spring of 1969 in my 66 427 SS.
What a rush that was!
The only part that was bad was when I lost a wheel bearing in Oklahoma and had to wait for 2 days to get a new one.
And the Chevy dealer backed my car off the hoist and hit an engine sitting on a stand and broke my RR fender cap.
Then they couldn't match my custom paint job, so I had to wait till I got to Calif. to fix it!
