Default Split rear window on C5

I was thinking, wouldn't it be fairly easy to machine aluminum, or something, as a piece that could "split" the rear window like the stingray?

Anyone ever done this?

I think it could be pretty cool if pulled off correctly, and if it could be made to flow with the lines.

From my archive, not my car, belongs to a local vette enthusiast, I could not find a rear shot.

They sell them at Ecklers. If you want to see what they look like go to Ecklers and select the C5 parts section then the Exterior Accessories.
IMO it looks like Sh##. There is only one Splitwindow vette and that is the 63.

The C5 was not meant to be a split window coupe IMO.

Last year I saw a C5 with the split window on it, It just didn't look right to me, I just looked for a picture of it and I guess I deleted it, It was just a piece of plastic that went down the center of the back window painted the same color of the car..

I saw a C6 at a local show a few weeks ago with a similar piece of plastic as he was going for the C2 look. It looked like someone put blue painters tape on his rear hatch window. IMO is just cheapens a nice looking Corvette.

It happened once in Vette history and it should stay there. That's what makes it so unique.

One thing you should think of. When the 64 Corvette came out many 63 owners elected to cut out their split rear window and install the better single piece design. The split is only popular now because of collectibility. They are still a pain to drive due to limited rear vision.
