I just purchased a 2001 Vette convertible and was wondering if they have build sheets somewhere in the car? I have had other cars and found them in different location but I am not sure about a corvette.

Urethane nose needs to be removed and Styrofoam impact piece also needs to be removed. I just got mine while my 99 is in the body shop in pieces to be painted. It was in good shape with a small amount of dirt on it.
It would not be worth taking the car apart just to get build sheet.
I don't think that is what he is looking for. On each build sheet, there are boxes that contain either letters, numbers or a combination of both.
For instance, my build sheet has in the top left corner a box with 07 in it. The boxes after it all are titled such as Paint, RR BODY HARN and so on, all of the codes listed in the link you provided are in the bottom half of the build sheet, and they state what each is. Such as mine starts with AAB Memory Package AG2 pwr seat PS and so on.

You are right on track TR6speed. When I toured the plant they explained what each box meant, but I've slept since then! Thanks again, dkf
btw- this is for a friend that just got his build sheet from the museum, a 99 coupe

Without a doubt - going through the Museum to obtain a facsimile of the original is the way to go. Why bother attempting to recover the original that is folded and stuffed into the front bumper support if you don't have to?
I have the build sheet and window sticker for both of my C5's that I obtained through the museum. It's fun to have that information.
