Default Door Panel Removal Problen

I am fixing to remove the door panel to replace the bose speaker on the passenger side.

Do you have to remove the Power door Lock, Window up/down switch module?

I researched the site and vette essentials shows doing that, another does not?

Both detailed posts were changing out window motors or handles...if that makes a difference.

I trust eveyone enjoys a safe Memorial Day Weekend and remembers the reason for the Memorial Holiday. Thanks to ALL VETERANS and those currently Serving our Country!!!

Speaker Replacement - Front
Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door in Doors.

2. Disconnect the electrical/audio connector from the front door radio speaker assembly.

Important

The speaker assembly is only held in place by retaining screws. Be sure to support the speaker assembly upon removal.
3. Remove the screws retaining the front door speaker assembly to the door.
4. Remove the front door speaker assembly.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the front door speaker assembly into position in the door.

Notice

Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important

The tightening sequence MUST be followed.

2. Install the front door speaker assembly retaining screws in the following sequence:
1. The uppermost screw
2. The lowermost screw
3. The remaining screws in a criss-cross pattern
Tighten

Tighten the front door speaker assembly retaining screws in sequence to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).

3. Connect the electrical/audio connector to the front door speaker assembly.
4. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Door in Doors.

When I pulled my door panel to gain access to the window/door lock module I did not pry the window/door lock switch out of the door, I was afraid I would damage it. Instead, I pulled the door panel and then disconnected the switch.

Yes... just slip a small flat head screwdriver under the bottom of the rubber (toward the arm rest) and it will lift right up - there is just a metal band clip that holds it in - should pry up fairly easily (both doors).

Thanks to all the posts and research and great tips and picture by picture instructions, I was done in 20 minutes...

It will take me longer to put up my tools and the special pry bar than it did to complete the job. Plus while at the tool store, I bought way more than I needed.

Once the panel was removed, it was apparent the white plug in connection to the speaker was disconnected.I simply pluged it in and it worked perfectly. The panel was so easy to remove, it had to have been removed before and my guess is it was when they put the original equiptment back.

I asked the previous owner if it had an after market product in it and maybe that is why the right speaker was not working? He assured me it had never been touched.

Maybe the connection just came apart while sitting on the showroom floor?

I am thankful it went so quick. Many thanks to those who posted the "how to" such as Vette Essentials.
